Do you need a licence?
Required for craft subject to compulsory registration: motorboats ≥10 kW, small craft >4 m, jet skis and sailboats 4–20 m. Skippers must be 18+. Rowing/sports craft and registration-exempt boats are outside this scheme. The certificate must cover the boat type and waters.
