- 1IALA Lateral Marks (Region A & B)Lateral marks indicate port and starboard sides of channels. Region A: red to port. Region B: red to starboard.
- 2IALA Cardinal MarksCardinal marks indicate the direction of safe water relative to the mark using compass quadrants (N, E, S, W).
- 3IALA Isolated Danger MarksPlaced directly on or above an isolated danger with navigable water all around. Black with red horizontal band(s).
- 4IALA Safe Water MarksIndicate navigable water all around. Red and white vertical stripes with a single red sphere topmark.
- 5IALA Special MarksYellow marks indicating special areas such as ODAS, traffic separation, military exercise areas, or cables/pipelines.
